Andrew McKenna Lee – Unraveling (2007)
Unraveling is for electric guitar, three looping machines, and percussion. Throughout the work, sections of the electric guitar part are recorded and played back as a sort of third accompaniment part to the guitar and percussion.

Sometimes loops are recorded silently and brought back only later, and other times they are manipulated (developed) through various electronic means. Other times, different loops cross fade over a period of several bars as the music transforms through different episodes.

The title Unraveling refers to the trajectory of the music, which starts out somewhat note intensive and highly ornamented. Over the duration of the piece, the texture gradually expands and loosens until the end, when it is reduced to nothing more than a slowly repeating cycle of swelling, phasing, stretched out chords.
