Dialectal Percussions (for multiple percussion) was first inspired by the dramatic expressions found in Chinese language, particularly in the Peking dialect. I am facinated with the sound of this language, for its subtle modulations in tone, pauses and transitions in rhythm, melodic undulations within each phrase and its dramatic character in expression. These aspects are incorporated into a piece in which all \u201cmusical dialects\u201d combine to symbolize a spiritual offering.<\/span>
